Recorded in March 1987
Like most American music-lovers who are aware of Hermeto Pascoal, I've always tended to associate him and his music with the 1970s -- with Airto, Miles, Slaves Mass, and so on.
I've since learned that the series of LPs Pascoal made in the 80s -- after he'd returned to Brazil and formed his amazing Grupo -- are some of the most interesting records he ever made.
More Hermeto Pascoal
During the 1980s, Pascoal released four albums with his Grupo on the Brazilian Som Da Gente label:
- Hermento Pascoal & Grupo (1982),
- Lagoa Da Canoa Município De Arapiraca (1984),
- Brasil Universo (1986), and
- Só Não Toca Quem Não Quer (1987).
This four-disc run of albums represents some of the most compelling music in Hermeto's long career. I recommend all of them highly.
